IGP Codru is a wine designation which covers roughly the Central third of the Republic of Moldova, stretching from the border with Romania to that with Ukraine on the other side of the country. The region is most associated with high quality white and sparkling wines. White grapes account for around 63 percent of plantings. Key white varieties are (in order of planting area) Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Aligoté, Muscat Ottonel, Rkatsiteli and Feteasca Alba.
